What skateboard should i get?

i have a lot of guy friends that skateboard. And when ever i hang out with them im just siting around cause i can skate! i cant even stand on the board. I want to buy a skateboard that is great for just riding. just going in a line or turning. Someone suggested just buying a blank board from ccs.com but all of those are ugly and the poeple i hang out with have really cool girl or plan b boards. So i want a cool board thats perfect for just riding. I also dont know what length or size or what type of trucks or wheels i should buy. so i pretty much just want some skateboarding advice for beginners.
